Bright Paw: Definitive Edition is a narrative driven puzzle game, that has you moving a cat around a grid, using a bunch of cards that you have at the bottom of your screen. These various cards can be used in any order and will highlight on the grid where they will take you, Theo the cat. This can help you plan your moves out.
However, often when you use a card, you will be given another in return, so you cannot plan that far ahead! Some levels of Bright Paw: Definitive Edition actually have cards left over too, so you do not need to use them all. Planning your route is more than just moving around boxes and hazards on the screen, it’s avoiding lasers and considering that conveyer belts will move in the direction you are moving.
The story, beautifully narrated in this game, is what really makes it stand out. You play as a young cat called Theo, who’s parents were both murdered. As you are so brave, you have decided to investigate the house to find the killer. As you move from room to room, a narrator points out what you think; that it’s weird your parents had secret fish tanks and weapon rooms. So many cleaning robots? What is going on here.

Bright Paw: Definitive Edition has an interesting narrator that will also comment when you are taking too long. There is a mode in the game to inspect specific objects – about three in each room – that give you more aspects of the story, though they are completely optional. This story is something that really pulled me in and kept me playing, as I really wanted to know what was going on with Theo’s parents!
You can find Bright Paw: Definitive Edition on Xbox, PC, Android and iOS.
